Villa Éclat

A clifftop villa where the ocean writes the interior.

Location
Alibaug, India
Year
2025
Area
12,400 sq.ft

The Story

Perched above the Arabian Sea, Villa Éclat was designed as a slow reveal. Every room frames the horizon differently — compressed entries open into double-height volumes washed with evening light. We stripped the palette to travertine, oiled teak and raw silk so that the sea remains the loudest colour in the house.

Designer's Notes

The brief was one sentence: 'Make the sunset the chandelier.' We modelled the sun path for a full year and cut the western facade into a sequence of bronze-framed apertures. The interior lighting never exceeds 2700K — the house glows, it never shines.

— Anaya Kapoor, Principal
