In the tea hills of Coonoor, Maison Verre is a single gesture: one long glass room resting on a stone plinth. The interior is furnished like a sentence with no adjectives — pale ash, undyed linen, paper lanterns. Mist rolls through the valley and becomes part of the room.
Restraint is the hardest brief. We rejected 41 chairs before choosing one. The rule was: if an object doesn't earn its shadow, it doesn't enter the house.
